@Plinz Do you mean that if I were to view that reconstruction on a 2d screen, my pattern recognition will kick in and obscure the flaws again, too? I see that happening, but the double-loss (from light impulses to neural signals to light impulses and back) should be noticeable?

@Plinz or maybe my original question was unclear because of the second tweet - I just meant to ask: is there a video of "some normal scene as encoded by the human eye" somewhere? (Not just some attempt at blurring the peripheral field but the glitchy, jittery mess you describe)
