            this part should work fine but I'm worried about the other end of the rise because it's clearly not designed for the layout in my laptop

          the usb port sits on the wrong side of the board and even if it was correct the USB cable wouldn't really fit

        I could snap off lots of plastic to try and make room out the front of the laptop but I think there'll be electronics in the way

      probably safer to remove the usb port and solder it on with some wire from the outside

    actually it would be cool as fuck to cannibalize one of the builtin usb3.0 ports and repurpose it as a eGPU connector
