        @rsnous I dropped tmux and screen in favor of i3 but I totally understand where you're coming from. I think I tried uzbl for a second but didn't really get into that (uzbl is a keyboard focused browser where tabbing is an explicit non-feature in the core)

      @rsnous to me it seems this reveals a little gotcha in the "unix philosophy" as applied to UI, in terms of separation of concerns it would be great to not re-implement all that windowing chrome all the time again. (...)

    @rsnous On the other hand having all those instances separate at least appears psychologically (and often is actually) wasteful. My urxvt terminal comes with a daemon/client split that let's me assume it's all good but many tools I wouldn't be sure to trust to multi-window efficiently.
