      1. There should be some kind of open portfolio standard that makes it possible to somehow unify the documentation you would keep on your personal site and the external distribution pages etc. that eventually have to be set up.

e.g. I like @itchio and I want to have pretty games pages there, but I'm also not 100% comfortable with relying on it to be my portfolio. Duplicating the documentation and styling effort there AND on my homepage also seems like a waste of time and effort.

Same thing e.g. with itch.io download pages + @ludumdare submission: - ldjam page needs to look awesome and explain everything for people in a rush - itch page needs to (...) for random viewers - portfolio needs to cover everything by itself

what could a solution be like? Either it's a standard that pages like itch etc. implement that lets them fetch (and cache) the description, images, download links etc. from an outside source (e.g. main portfolio) - sounds cool but unlikely and will never be implemented everywhere

The more realistic version is that same format + a set of plugins that connect to various pages/APIs (like itch, ludumdare, your own page, ...) and upload/update the project there. This would include things like resizing screenshots, adding video, download links, tags etc.
